T.Magic Workshop & Lecture Series
December 10th, 2009
Sup peeps!
I recently did a Workshop/Lecture for year 10’s and 11’s which went absolutely incredible. The kids were so motivated and engaged before I even got a chance to open my mouth.
The Objective for the Workshop was for them to create T-shirt designs using their own four-worded slogan (with the ‘Is My’ in the middle) being mandatory. I got them to brainstorm things of their interest and link it with a descriptive word. Also the objective was to learn how words and colour can be used to convey a message. I showed examples of this and how to stencil their designs onto the garments. We then made it into a competition so best design was awarded with some T.Magic goodies!
I must say, I saw some great and weird (in a good way) slogans being produced throughout the day. One that stuck in my head was ‘Death Is My Future’. Thought it was nuts but genius at the same time.
Big thanks to Romero Bryan, Osy, Christine and my partner in crime D.O.C for the support and making this possible.
P.S.
The T.Magic Lecture Series is something I will be taking up and down the country. The aim is to help inspire and motivate the younger demographic to reach their full potential within the Arts and Entrepreneurship. There will be more info on this at the beginning of 2010 so be on the look out!

Nike Holiday 2009 “Carbon Fiber” Blazer High
December 7th, 2009
From the Nike Holiday 2009 Collection a new Carbon Fiber Blazer High has been released. Rather than just using the carbon fiber look as an accent, Nike has given the Blazer High a complete carbon fiber look on the upper. The Swoosh comes in clean white leather and the sole is light grey. Mean!

100 Habits for Successful Freelance Designers
December 3rd, 2009
The editor with the help of a group of practiced design professionals has put together 100 valuable suggestions for creatives that are willing to take the big step towards independency, but the brave designers that already ride their own horses will surely find these hints as much useful. Although the book has been conceived by a Graphic designer and the expert board comes from the worlds of graphic, publishing and illustration; it fits just as well all creative fields including ours: product design.
So we all know what being a freelance designer means: be your own boss, set your own hours and work with the clients you want, right? Wrong.
Well, at least it isn’t that easy at the beginning. The golden dream of fun, satisfaction, flexibility and of course money is possible, but it does take an enormous amount of good work, talent and planning to get you there. Freelancing is about setting a business, and creative work is just a part of it, certainly an important part but there’s some more involved…
If interested you can buy the book here!
