T.Magic Solo Exhibition September 2008
September 1st, 2008

“Loaded With Meaning” is an independent solo exhibition mounted by one of the UK’s most colourful talents, T.Magic. It takes place from September 26, 2008, until October 5, 2008, at The Loading Bay Gallery, Old Truman Brewery, London and features over forty new works consisting of original paintings, photography, sculptures and silk-screens.
Pieces in the show explore Magic’s dark social commentary. His theme: the London Council Estate. Drawing inspiration from experiences growing up in what the 24-year-old street artist describes as ‘The Black Hole,’ which he feels is a distinct and unknown territory isolated from the rest of society. “It’s a world of the displaced where no-one from outside enters and where the inhabitants stay; an area synonymous - in the public mind - with poverty, crime and ethnic conflict.”
A pivotal aspect of the self-proclaimed therapists works is the idea of escapism from such harsh realities. His unique style of art exalts in the power of colour, contrast and composition.
After two successful exhibitions at The Air Gallery in Mayfair - along with counting Jay-Z and Pharrell Williams as fans of his art - T.Magic’s work is internationally recognized as some of the most interesting and thought-provoking contributions to the contemporary art scene of recent times.

I’m sure this show will be a road block. Will there be a private viewing? If so how can I obtain an invite?
Please, please, please answer my questions because I know you read the comments.

T.Magic’s work is amazing art, type of canvas not taken into thought. wherever he paints/draws/whatever is fine by me. he has a great way of conveying his thoughts in a way that is blatant, and at the same time enabling people to really think about what their own views on things. i can’t say i agree 100% with his opinions sometimes, but i just love the way he can make people look, as well as how strongly he feels about important or unseen issues.

Koopa - It is not whether his work will live up to his hype, but HIS WORK HAS CREATED THE HYPE! Look at the last exhibitions, the launch parties, the tees, the artwork. Everything is done to perfection.
Hope you come down to the exhibition, would like to meet you and discuss this topic further…there is nothing wrong with having your own opinion, I respect that.PK - I made a call and all I was told was ‘wait til u see the new tee shirt designs!!!’ I rest my case.
There will be art pieces for sale, and a few tees apparantly…but ART IS HIS HUSTLE, so I believe we will see a strongly art focused exhibition.
As for a preview…well that would be telling!
Just to let you all know, I have been given my own classroom which is a big deal in a secondary school. The walls are bare and waiting for me to add some colour and inspiration for my students…any guesses what posters I will be putting up in the classroom 2mw? Yep, along with my Shakespeare, Benjamin Zephiniah and Martin Luther images, will be my signed Art Is My Hustle poster and Tmagic media postcards I have kept…fu*k it, I might even print out some of those Quotes of the Week and get them on the walls. The kids need the inspiration.
Will keep you posted.

I haven’t posted a comment in a while but just had to after seeing the response from the supporters.
You see I have had the pleasure of watching this movement grow from an idea (dream)and seeing it turn into a reality.
I was watching him working on one of the pieces for the exhibition last night I felt like i was watching him make history. I will tell you as I told him this exhibition will change your life.
With regards to the questions regarding pricing at the exhibition lets just say it will range from the very affordable to the more expensive.
Teacha 4a better future hearing that you will be adorning your class room wall with Magic’s words and images was inspirational.
I’m glad people see that this is more than just about being fly and looking good (i know it’s fly) but making a positive change in very negative times.
I’ve said enough for now so see everyone in 3 weeks.

DeoC - Tmagic has inspired me and the rest of us, and it would be wrong of me to deprive my students of such inspiration, after all they need it. With all the negative influences they are bombarded with it is refreshing to have something positive, yet still cutting edge and extremely cool.

Tmagic Classroom experience.
The Year 10s saw the ART IS MY HUSTLE poster today and went crazy. A boy that lives in Alperton said ‘Sir, I have seen that slogan in my area, on the floor’ For those that are unaware of Tmagic’s street advertising, go to the Flickr site and type in Art IS MY HUSTLE.
It was a careers lesson and it turned into a debate on art, what is art? Can you make a real career out of art etc.
We then went on to the website and I can honestly say, the response was something else. The kids were loving the designs, the positive messages, everything. One boy said ‘Sir, I love art but did not think I could make a career out of it, I wanna be like Tmagic now.’
That touched me, you are a role model to these kids and nothing is more important than that!
Peace.

Taz - I know the feeling, I check the site all the time, for anything, new posts, comments, anything! People are addicted to Facebook and I don’t get it…but look at me, look at us.
Thank you all for your encouragement, this website is what keeps me going to be honest. It is full of inspiration and positivity and I try to transfer that energy into the classroom. SUCCESS IS MY DESTINY is what I am trying to drill into their minds, the more they say it, the more they will believe it and it will begin to manifest in everything that they do.I am hopefully seeing Deoc this week to collect some flyers for the Loaded exhibition and will take them to school, The Head of Art wants a batch, the Head of Media is on my case and the Business Studies Dept are all over Tmagic.
The fu*king government need to get this guy and his work in every school, every Local Authority and every hood! That will help the kids to put the guns and knives down and pick up a paint brush or a book.
I will try and get any extra information for you guys from Deoc…fingers crossed.

Re: The street advertising.
Is that not a little inconsiderate of Tmagic since street cleaners will have to get on their knees and scrub the paint out at the request of the council.
